The claims made by Meghan Markle that she was objectified and silenced by UK media outlets were countered by UK show boss Ben Frow, who is also Channel 5’s director of programming. Frow said that the coverage of Meghan Markle was “very respectful,” and said that he never saw evidence of objectification in the media coverage from the UK. Frow further said “I’m a great believer in the power of Meghan and what she did for the royal family”. He went on to point out that when it comes to celebrities, “media coverage can be very one-sided” but in this case he felt that the press coverage was “sympathetic” to Meghan Markle and the Royal Family. Frow said that the coverage “reflected the public’s admiration for her” and that he did not “notice any particular tabloid stands out as being particularly intrusive or negative.”
