Two teenagers have handed themselves in to police after afire tore through a terrace house in Sydney’s west on Monday. The fire broke out at the house in Campbell St, Penrith, about 3am and the two 15-year-old boys walked into Penrith Police Station just before 11am on Monday morning.
The teens are suspected of arson after an investigation by Fire & Rescue NSW, and police have established a crime scene at the property. The fire, which took hold of the two-story property, was quickly put out by firefighters after they arrived at the scene.
The boys have been taken into police custody and are assisting detectives from Nepean Police Area Command with inquiries. No one was injured in the blaze, but the roof and something on the second floor were “severely damaged”. A police investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
