Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking border regions while its forces target a clinic in Dnipro

Russia has accused Ukraine of launching attacks on the separatist-controlled Donbas region and other “border areas” in an escalating crisis between the two countries.

Moscow accused Kyiv of military action against the Donetsk and Luhansk regions – “as well as against other border districts” – without elaborating further.

In response, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had launched airstrikes against Ukrainian targets in the Dnipro region. In a statement, Moscow claimed the strikes had been aimed at a “treatment facility”, although the main target was a school in Yampil.

A Ukrainian Air Force Su-25 fighter jet was reportedly shot down during the attack, although the Ukrainian military denied this and said the plane landed safely.

The Ukrainian ministry of defense also accused Russian forces of using multiple rocket launchers and conducting multiple sorties, including one against a Ukrainian army installation.

The Kremlin’s actions have been widely condemned by NATO and the international community. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Russia’s military activity near Ukraine’s border was “unacceptable and must stop”.
