Indian-born designer apparel fraudster imprisoned in the UK

An Indian-origin designer clothing scam mastermind, dubbed the ‘Kingpin of Fraud’, has been jailed for more than nine years in the United Kingdom for stealing £3.3 million (USD 4.1 million) from customers who ordered clothes which were never delivered.

Kevin Ohene-Djan, 29, created a series of fraudulent online fronts to swindle customers who ordered luxury items from designer brands. He set up bank accounts and websites in the names of fictitious companies, claiming to be selling items including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Prada.

His victims, including the former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, the former Irish premier Bertie Ahern and Danish television star Mie Skov, were duped into believing they were placing orders with authentic companies.

Once Ohene-Djan had received the money for the items, he then simply disappeared and told customers their orders had been delayed or lost in transit with no further contact made.
