British Airways canceled flights for a second day on July 11th due to a major IT outage that caused chaos for thousands of customers. The airline said that it had canceled all flights from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports for the day, as well as some flights from other UK airports. It advised customers to check its website or the customer care center for rebooked flights. The airline said it was continuing to work on fixing the problem. It blamed the IT problem on a power supply issue, which it said was not caused by a cyberattack. It later emerged that the problem had been caused by a lightning strike on a computer server. The airline advised customers to claim compensation for the disruption.
