Indian equity markets made continued gains for a second day on Thursday, with the BSE Sensex closing up by 1.01%.
The Sensex closed at 48,675, while the Nifty gained 0.87% to close at 14,521.
The markets have been on a steady rise since Tuesday after the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, announced the Union Budget for 2021-22.
The gains were led by the banking sector, with the Bank Nifty up 2.6%. Other major gainers were the metal, automobile and energy sectors.
The markets are back in positive territory for the year, with the Sensex up 4% since the beginning of the year.
Foreign investors have also been bullish on the markets, with cumulative net inflows amounting to Rs 34,716 crore between April and January this year.
