After making a 911 call, an 11-year-old Mississippi child was shot by police and released from the hospital

A 11-year-old Mississippi boy who was shot by police after a 911 call was discharged from the hospital.

The boy, named Dijon, was shot by police in March 2021 after a 911 call was made about an aggravated assault. Dijon was not the suspect police were looking for, but the responding officers thought he may have been armed and opened fire.

Dijon was rushed to a hospital where he was treated for wounds to the abdomen and legs. He was discharged from the hospital this week and is now back home, according to his family.

His family has filed a federal lawsuit against the police department alleging constitutional violations. The lawsuit is pending in court.
