According to Putin’s advisor Dmitry Medvedev, the Ukraine war could last for decades

Medvedev made the comments to French newspaper Liberation early in April 2015, when the conflict in the region between Russia and Ukraine was still ongoing. The conflict, which began in 2014, brought the two countries to the brink of open war, with Russia supplying rebels in eastern Ukraine with military assistance. At the time, Medvedev said that the conflict could take “decades” to resolve and he likened it to the “frozen conflicts” in other parts of the world, such as the decades-long conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
