In December 2019, three members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were arrested for trespassing and intruding into a military area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in violation of the Pakistan Army Act, 1952. According to reports, the activists were caught on video inside the restricted area, littering the area and throwing stones; they were later arrested by military personnel. PTI released a statement, strongly condemning the incident and declaring that it would be strictly dealt with. The party has since also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army for protecting the safety and security of the country.
