Russia’s defense ministry has denied reports of a major fire at its headquarters in Moscow on Sunday, saying everything was under control, according to state news agency TASS.
“There was no fire at the Main Directorate of the General Staff or the military commissariat,” TASS cited a defense ministry spokesman as saying on Monday.
The spokesman said that “there was an isolated local fire incident on part of the roof of the Central Armed Forces Museum located on the grounds of the defense ministry’s building.”
The Moscow fire department had earlier reported a major blaze at the defense ministry’s building, though it was unclear whether there were casualties or what might have caused the incident. The agency had no details about the incident.
