Elon Musk is likely happy with the news that Ron DeSantis is launching a White House bid because the two have a business relationship. Musk owns a stake in an aerospace manufacturer, SpaceX, that signed a contract with Florida in August to launch satellites from a Cape Canaveral facility. Additionally, DeSantis has consistently been a vocal supporter of Musk’s efforts to develop space technology. Last February, DeSantis presented SpaceX with the Governor’s Shine Award, which “recognizes companies that have made a significant impact on Florida’s economy, bringing innovative ideas and investments that will drive Florida’s future.” Therefore, DeSantis’ potential campaign for the White House is good news for Musk since they have a shared business interest.
