According to Reuters, two lawyers representing former President Donald Trump asked Attorney General Merrick Garland for a meeting in a letter sent on Tuesday. Bruce Castor and David Schoen cited the “storm of calls for further investigation” of Trump and “a wide array of accusations being leveled” against him in their request for a meeting. They also wrote that they hoped to discuss “how we might come to agree on how to address these issues going forward with a view to avoiding seizing the nation’s attention with distractions from your important work.” The lawyers did not specify the topics they wanted to discuss with Garland, but said it was time to “move forward and to put these matters behind us so that the Attorney General can focus on more pressing matters.”
