Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of carrying out a smear campaign against newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir.
In a statement, Shehbaz said that the PTI government had launched a malicious campaign to tarnish the image of the new COAS, General Asim Munir. He said that the PTI was trying to discredit General Asim Munir’s image and character, which was very unfortunate.
He said that General Asim Munir was an officer of immense experience and had served the country with distinction. He said that General Asim Munir was appointed to the post of COAS on the recommendation of the previous COAS, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Shehbaz said that the PTI should stop its smear campaign against the new COAS and instead focus on ensuring good governance and rule of law in the country. He said that the government should focus its energies on improving the economy, eradicating poverty, and providing basic amenities to the people.
