A tremor of 4.5 magnitude occurs in Jayapura, Indonesia.

On April 5, 2021, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Jayapura, Indonesia. The epicenter of the quake was located approximately 45 km southeast of the city, at a depth of around 35 km. No casualties or damage were reported.

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a statement warning local residents to be aware of aftershocks and to keep away from coastal areas. The agency also advised people to stay away from buildings and to stay vigilant for further earthquake activity in the area.
