WHO charges China with concealing information that could connect Covid’s animal ancestry

The World Health Organization (WHO) has accused China of not providing enough data on the possible animal origins of the novel coronavirus, saying that the country has not shared the necessary information that could help scientists understand how the virus jumped from animals to humans. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that “the lack of data sharing from China has been a problem and has hindered the work of international experts.”

He has also said that the WHO team visiting China to investigate the origins of Covid-19 was not given access to full data sets that could have been used to trace the virus’s origins.
