Morris Chang, the founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), recently expressed his support for the US government’s efforts to slow China’s advances in semiconductor technology. In an interview, Chang stated that he believes the US efforts are necessary to maintain the global semiconductor industry’s competitive balance.
He noted that China has the potential to dominate the market, which would lead to increased prices, reduced innovation, and decreased quality. Chang also expressed his belief that the US government should continue to invest in the domestic semiconductor industry to ensure that it remains competitive.
