Sensex rises 355 points, Nifty finishes at 17,125, and real estate, metals, and IT stocks rise

The Indian stock markets ended higher on Friday, with the benchmark Sensex rising 355 points and the Nifty closing at 17,125. The Sensex ended 355 points, or 0.99 per cent, higher at 36,048.36. The Nifty gained 96 points, or 0.57 per cent, to close at 17,125.

The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices, with the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices rising 2.25 per cent and 2.12 per cent, respectively. Realty stocks were among the top gainers, with DLF, Indiabulls Real Estate, and Oberoi Realty rising 8.54 per cent, 7.92 per cent, and 7.57 per cent, respectively.

Metal stocks also gained, with Jindal Steel and Power, Tata Steel, and Hindalco Industries rising 5.40 per cent, 3.87 per cent, and 3.50 per cent, respectively. IT stocks also gained, with Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys rising 2.15 per cent and 1.35 per cent, respectively.
