Pak Army Chief reportedly “supports” Imran Khan’s detention in order to “put an end to his political career”

The Pakistan Army has denied reports that its chief supported the arrest of Prime Minister Imran Khan to end his political career.

In a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, the military’s public affairs wing said the reports are completely baseless and have no basis in reality.

The statement added that the Pakistan Army has always abided by the Constitution and supported democracy and the rule of law, and will continue to do so.

It further said that the Pakistan Army is a professional institution and its chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, has no involvement in political matters.
