Kremlin: Putin and Xi will sign a statement on their “new era” relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to sign a declaration on Wednesday to mark the start of a “new era” of ties between the two countries, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

The document, which will be signed during Putin’s visit to Beijing, will outline a vision of the two countries’ strategic partnership, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“The declaration will reflect the high level of trust and mutual understanding between the two leaders, and will confirm their commitment to further deepening cooperation between Russia and China,” Peskov said.

He added that the declaration would also outline the two countries’ plans for future cooperation in various fields, such as politics, security, economy, trade, finance, culture, education and science.

The two countries have a long history of friendship and cooperation, and the signing of the declaration is expected to further strengthen the ties between them.
