GAIL (India) Limited, India’s leading natural gas company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shell Energy Europe Limited (Shell), a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, to explore the possibility of sourcing ethane from Shell’s European ethane storage and transportation infrastructure.
The MoU will allow GAIL and Shell to explore a range of areas including the supply of ethane from Shell’s European infrastructure, the transport of ethane by ship to India and the potential for long-term ethane supply contracts.
The partnership marks a major milestone in GAIL’s journey to develop a reliable and sustainable ethane supply to meet the growing demand of its customers in India. This is in line with the Government of India’s vision to increase the availability and security of natural gas in the country.
The partnership also underlines Shell’s commitment to the Indian gas market and its focus on providing secure and reliable supplies to customers in the country.
