Watch as a pilot “world’s first” lands a plane on the Burj Al Arab helipad in Dubai

In what is being dubbed as the world’s first, a pilot landed an Emirates plane on the helipad of Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, in a bid to honor the UAE’s Year of Tolerance. The Emirates Airbus A380-800, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, took off from Dubai International Airport on Tuesday and flew over the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina before touching down on the helipad of the iconic hotel, the airline said in a statement. The flight, which lasted around 10 minutes, was piloted by Captain Abdulrahman Alagu, who has been flying with Emirates for 10 years. The plane was accompanied by a police helicopter and a special camera plane, which captured the historic landing.
