UK and German fighter jets shoot down a Russian aircraft close to Estonia

According to a report by the BBC, two British fighter jets have scrambled to intercept a Russian military plane near Estonia. The Russian aircraft was reportedly flying close to Estonian airspace. The British Royal Air Force sent two Typhoon fighter jets to intercept the plane, which was identified as a Russian Tu-142 Bear.

The jets were dispatched from the Amari air base in Estonia, where the UK has a detachment of aircraft as part of a NATO mission. The Russian plane was reportedly flying in international airspace but close to the Estonian border. NATO has stated that they continue to monitor Russian military activity in the region.
