The Ukrainian government has strongly condemned the “kidnapping” of Ukrainian children by Russians who are fostering them in Russia.
The Ukrainian foreign ministry released a statement deploring the recent cases of Ukrainian children being taken away from their families and transferred to Russia for adoption. The statement further stated that the Ukrainian government considers these actions to be a violation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and a violation of the rights of Ukrainian children.
The Ukrainian government also called on the Russian authorities to stop the practice immediately and to return the children to Ukraine.
The statement further noted that such actions are a form of “psychological warfare”, which is “incompatible with the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding” between the two countries.
The statement also emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of children and stressed that Ukraine will continue to make every effort to protect the rights of its citizens.
