The arrest of Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan’s opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, over alleged plans to abduct and assassinate Pakistan’s Prime Minister has been dismissed as “mere drama” by Khan himself. Khan’s arrest comes amid increased tensions between the PTI and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party. Khan has accused the government of attempting to sabotage his party’s efforts to bring about political reform in the country. He has vowed to continue his fight for justice and democracy in Pakistan, despite the charges against him.
