As police seek to arrest the former Pakistani leader, fans of Imran Khan struggle with the officers outside his residence

The chaotic scene outside Imran Khan’s home in Islamabad on Thursday saw supporters of the former Pakistani leader clash with police attempting to arrest him. According to reports, hundreds of supporters had gathered outside the residence of the former cricket star-turned-politician in a show of solidarity.

The police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, while Khan’s supporters pelted them with stones and sticks. Several people were reportedly injured in the clashes, and police also arrested at least two dozen of Khan’s supporters.

Khan was taken into custody on charges of inciting violence after his supporters clashed with police during an anti-government demonstration in Islamabad last week. The former prime minister and leader of the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party has denied the charges and rejected the government’s version of events.

Khan’s supporters have vowed to continue protesting until he is released from custody. The clashes outside his home have raised fears of further violence in the coming days.
