On April 8, 2021, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck Hotan prefecture in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. The quake occurred at 11:58 a.m. local time, with the epicenter located near the city of Hotan, about 250 kilometers (155 miles) southeast of the regional capital of Urumqi. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), the earthquake had a depth of 8 kilometers (5 miles). There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake.
