Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Wednesday that the Senate will hold a larger and more comprehensive briefing from administration officials next week on the U.S.-China relationship and the current state of the bilateral relationship.
The Senate had previously received a classified briefing from top Biden administration officials on the topic, but Schumer said there would be an “open, unclassified” briefing next week.
“This is an issue of such importance to our country, it’s so critical, that the American people need to be fully informed,” he said. “We’re going to have a full, open, unclassified briefing next week that will be inclusive of all senators, and it’ll go into much greater detail than the classified briefing we had.”
The open briefing is expected to include top officials from the State Department and Pentagon, as well as other officials from the Biden administration.
