The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has not yet released its statistics for 2022, so it is not possible to provide an accurate answer. However, based on CPJ’s 2021 Global Impunity Index, which tracks unsolved journalist murders from 2012 to 2021, it is likely that Latin America and the Caribbean will continue to lead the world in unsolved journalist murders.
In 2021, the region had the highest number of unsolved journalist murders in the world, with 54 cases. Ukraine, on the other hand, had only two unsolved cases in 2021. It is likely that Latin America and the Caribbean will continue to have more unsolved journalist murders than Ukraine in 2022.
