Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif apologised to the nation on Saturday for the countrywide power outage which affected millions of people across the country.
Speaking in a televised address, the premier said he “regretted” the inconvenience caused to citizens due to the outages and that the government was doing its utmost to restore power to all areas as soon as possible.
He assured citizens that the government was taking all necessary steps to ensure the issues are rectified and that the power grid is stable.
He added that the power outages had been caused by issues at the national transmission line and that the government was working to solve the problem. He said that the government was also taking steps to ensure that such incidents are avoided in the future.
The prime minister also urged citizens to remain patient and said that the government was doing everything possible to restore power to affected areas. He added that the government would soon announce a relief package for those affected by the power outages.
