In a BBC programme about Prime Minister Modi, the US supports India and praises their “shared principles”

The US State Department has expressed its support for India in response to a BBC documentary about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said that the US values its strong partnership with India, and the two countries share commitment to democracy and a free press. Price also said that the US government fully supports the people of India in exercising their rights to free expression and free association. Price’s statement comes in response to the controversy generated by the BBC documentary about PM Modi, which has been widely criticised by both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its supporters.
