Pakistan’s Energy Minister Omar Ayub Khan has described the power outages across major cities as “the worst in months”.
Khan said the outages were caused by an unexpected spike in demand, coupled with a gas shortage in Punjab. He said that the government is working to resolve the issue, and that the situation should improve within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Khan also urged citizens to be patient and to cooperate with the government, adding that the government is doing its best to restore services as quickly as possible. He said that the government is aware of the hardships faced by citizens due to the power outages and is taking all measures to reduce the inconvenience.
