Republican Nikki Haley, an Indian-American, suggests she’ll run in the 2024 US elections

Nikki Haley, the former United Nations ambassador, has not confirmed whether she will run for the 2024 US presidential election, but she has hinted that she is open to the possibility.

In an interview with Fox News’ Pete Hegseth on Sunday, Haley said she was “proud” of her record as South Carolina governor and UN ambassador, and said she would “certainly look at” a potential bid for the White House.

“I think that any public servant, any patriot, would certainly look at that,” Haley said.

Haley, who served as South Carolina governor from 2011-2017, was an early backer of former President Donald Trump and served in his administration for two years. She did not endorse Trump for reelection in 2020.

Haley has previously said she plans to use her time out of office to “help the Republican Party in 2021 and 2022,” and said Sunday that she plans to use her platform to “promote the policies that I think are important for the future of our country.”

While Haley has not officially declared her intention to run for president in 2024, she has emerged as a potential frontrunner in the race. A March 2021 poll from Fox News found that 19 percent of Republican voters would support Haley in a potential 2024 GOP primary.
