Jacinda Ardern will be replaced as New Zealand’s next prime minister by Chris Hipkins

Chris Hipkins is the current Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education of New Zealand. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2011 and is currently the longest-serving MP in the Labour Party.

Hipkins has been a key part of Jacinda Ardern’s government since it came to power in 2017 and has held a number of ministerial portfolios, including Education, Health, and State Services.

Hipkins is widely respected among his colleagues and is seen as a steady, reliable, and experienced leader. He is also known for his thoughtful and measured approach to policy making, which has been praised by his fellow Labour MPs.

If Ardern were to step down as Prime Minister, Hipkins would likely be the most likely Prime Minister to succeed her. He is seen as a safe pair of hands who could continue Ardern’s legacy, and he is well-liked and respected by both his colleagues and the wider public.
