The Syrian capital was thrown into darkness after an “assault” on a fuel line feeding a serious energy plant, the nation’s electrical energy minister advised state media, noting repairs are underway and that the problems would quickly be resolved.

“There was a major direct drop in fuel stress, which led to the failure on the Deir Ali energy station… on account of an assault on the fuel line,” Minister of Electrical energy Ghassan al-Zamil advised the Syria TV channel late on Friday, although added that few particulars had been but recognized in regards to the purported assault.
